DENISE LONG / by Molly Schiot

The first women drafted in the NBA in 1969, Union-Whitten High (Iowa) senior Long averaged 69.6 points and held the school's single game scoring record of 111 points.  Long was selected in the 13th round by the San Francisco Warriors, however the pick was later voided by NBA Commissioner Walter Kennedy, who labelled the selection as a publicity stunt by Warriors' owner Franklin Mieuli.
